Image Requests

The Digital Image Archive makes JPG and PDF files freely available for general use. For a fee, the library can provide higher resolution versions of any image in the Digital Image Archive. You can request a higher quality image by clicking the "Request a high-resolution file" link on any image page.

Fees

For requests of higher resolution images, fees shall be charged to cover a portion of the cost associated with digitization and metadata services. There are no use fees. The following fees will be assessed for image requests:

  • Per image fee for medium-resolution digital images (PowerPoint or web quality, 200 dpi): $5.00
  • Per image fee for high-resolution digital images (Publication quality, 400 dpi): $10.00

Copyright and Liability

Images in the Digital Image Archive are likely in the public domain due to the expiration of copyright. However, patrons are responsible for determining copyright status prior to distributing, publishing, or reproducing images in excess of any exception under copyright law or other applicable laws. Any reuse of images in excess of fair use or other copyright exemptions requires permission of the copyright holder and patrons agree to obtain such permission from third parties as may be required for use. The entire risk as to the use of images provided is assumed by the patron. Proper attribution must accompany all images used, and should include the attribution line: “Digital image provided courtesy of Pitts Theology Library, Candler School of Theology, Emory University.”
