From Creation to Storage: The Administration of Local Church Records

Description
United Methodist Church pastors have a disciplinary responsibility to properly create and manage their church reports and records. This workshop will address why it is important to manage committees, to effectively compose charge conferences and reports, and to manage these and other documents. Participants will be introduced to different spects of a records management program including the reasons for records management, the theories of records life cycle, appraisal, and retention scheduling, issues related to electronic records management (ERM), and the formation of a local church records committee. We will also briefly explore the relationship of archives and records management and how the archival record has played a significant role within theology.
