Endnote Toolbar
Click "View" -> "Toolbars" -> "Endnote X " to pull up the Endnote X toolbar within Microsoft Word. This toolbar allows you to insert citations and build a bibliography within Word.
Inserting Citations
Click the "Find Citation" button, the first button on the Endnote toolbar, to insert a citation into your paper. Type the author's last name or a keyword to pull up a specific library. Once the library is open, choose the desired reference and click "Insert" to place the citation. The citation will look like this: {White, 2005 #28}. To change the format of the citation, you will need to create a bibliography within Word.
Creating a Bibliography within Word
Use the third button on the toolbar, "Format Bibliography," to format your paper. Pick the specific output style you want for the paper. If the style needed does not appear, click "Browse" for the entire list, choose the style, and then click "OK." The paper will be formatted and a bibliography will appear at the end.
