Importing records from Web-based L'Année Philologique to Endnote 9

A. Exporting Records from L'Année Philologique (http://web.library.emory.edu/databases/)

  1. In L'Année, mark the record(s) you wish to save by checking the boxes in the results set, then click Export [for this you might need to turn off all pop-up blockers in your browser toolbars (e.g., on Google toolbar) and in the browser itself (under "Tools")] . On the Export window, choose the File Type tab.
  2. For file type, choose .dat file and click Export.
  3. A new page will open with your search results. Highlight and copy all the text on the page; paste this text into a text document (.txt). Open WordPad to create this .txt document (the default document type in WordPad may be "Rich Text File"; you will need to change this to "Text Document"). Save this file to a memorable location on your computer.

B. Adding "import filter" for L'Année Philologique in Endnote (this assumes you have Endnote 9.0 loaded on your computer).

  1. Download endnote filter for "Année Philologique" from the following page (you may need to scroll through a page or two to find the appropriate filter): http://www.endnote.com/support/enfilters.asp.
  2. Save this file to your computer and copy the file to the following file on your C- drive: C:\Program Files\EndNote 9\Filters

C. Import Recordings to Endnote

  1. Open Endnote and a new or existing library.
  2. Select "File" à "Import"
  3. An import box will appear. Browse to the text document containing the bibliographic records produced in step "A" above; for the second option in the import box, "Import Option," select "Other Filters," then "Année Philologique." Select "Import." The record(s) from the database should appear in your Endnote library.
