Religion Databases (Foreign Language)

Hebrew Literature

RAMBI (Available via Databases@ Emory)
RAMBI is a selective bibliography of articles in the various fields of Jewish Studies and in the study of Eretz Israel. Material listed is compiled from thousands of periodicals and from collections of articles in Hebrew, Yiddish, and European languages, mainly from the holdings of the Jewish National and University Library, a world center for research on the Jewish people and Eretz Israel. The main criterion for inclusion in the bibliography is that the article be based on scientific research, or contain important information for such research.

Greek and Latin Literature (Ancient and Medieval)

Annee Philologique (Available via Databases @ Emory)
An international French bibliography that contains citations for Greek and Roman studies. The database covers all aspects of classical languages, literatures, history, philosophy, art, religion, music, mythology, science, numismatics, and other subjects. Its scope is the period from 2000 BC to 800 AD.

Hagiography Database
This Hagiography Database Project is designed to provide Byzantinists and other medievalists with new opportunities of access to this important and underutilized corpus of Greek texts. Included in the database is information from the Greek vitae and martyria of one hundred and nineteen saints of the 8th-10th c., accounts of the translations of their relics, and collections of miracles, as well as notices from the Synaxarion of Constantinople (a 10th-century liturgical collection of brief hagiographical notices). The project provides a subject index (the database proper) on many aspects of Byzantine civilization, from everyday life to liturgical vessels to toponyms. A Greek font is provided for download to read Greek texts.

International Medieval Bibliography (Available via Databases @ Emory)
The International Medieval Bibliography (IMB) is an interdisciplinary bibliography of the European Middle Ages, covering Europe, the Middle East and North Africa in the period 400-1500. Indexing begins in 1967 and the database regularly covers some 4500 periodicals and 5000 miscellany volume (conference proceedings, essay collections, Festschriften and exhibition catalogues). All articles are classified with full bibliographical details and subject classifications and indexing familiar to medievalists.

German Literature

Index Theologicus
This theological database contains document descriptions of articles from more than 600 periodicals in theology and religious studies, and essays from Festschriften and congress publications. The database focuses mainly on articles written in Western European languages.

Biographisch-Bibliographisches Kirchenlexikon
Full-text online version of the Biographisch-bibliographisches Kirchenlexikon. This massive German reference work, which is still being updated, provides over 14,000 biographical entries for the history of the Christian church, from the early church to the twentieth century. Each entry has an extended bibliography.

Bildi: Bibelwissenschaftliche Literaturdokumentation Innsbruck
Index to biblical and biblical-archaeological literature, including festschriften, monographs, and 90 periodicals.

Der Virtuelle Katalog Theologie und Kirche (VThK)
The "Virtual Catalogue for Theology and Church" is a German "meta-catalogue accessing 5 million media from theological and religious special libraries of churches in the German speaking area."

SUDOC
The Sudoc catalog lets you search bibliographic information on all types of documents (including dissertations) held by French academic libraries, as well as other higher educational establishments, and on serials to be found in 2400 documentation institutions.
