Reserves

Pitts Theology Library will put materials on reserve for any course offered through Candler School of Theology and select courses for the Graduate Department of Religion. If the material requested is not owned by the Emory libraries, we will make every effort to obtain a copy to add to our own collection.

Submission of Book Requests

Please submit requests by emailing the reserve list to dbrow24.emory.edu.

For whole book reserves you need only include title and author on the list and Pitts reserve staff will search for and pull the items for you. Euclid records also contain an option to request items for Theology Reserve. Use the blue request button in the same way you would to recall the item from another patron.

Submission of Electronic Reserve Requests

For electronic reserves, please include a full citation on your list and bring a clear, one-sided copy to be scanned to the circulation desk.

If you have used an article in the past that has already been scanned, or if you plan to use an article from a journal for which Emory University has an electronic subscription, you need only submit the citation information for the reserve item.

Timely submission of requests is necessary for timely processing of reserves. The library staff fulfills requests in the order they are received. Additional time is needed for items circulating to another patron (which necessitates a recall) or if items need to be purchased or obtained from other libraries.

At the beginning of the semester please allow up to three weeks for reserve items to be processed. The reserves coordinator, Devin Brown, will email you with periodic updates regarding your request.

ReservesDirect

ReservesDirect is a reserves management system created by Emory University Libraries. Log in using your net id and password. Your courses with reserves should appear. Click on the hyperlink to each course to view the reserves list. Books, websites, electronic documents, and links to online journals may all be listed for your courses.

Periodic information and training sessions on the functions of ReservesDirect are offered for you and/or your graduate assistants. The next session will be offered at the beginning of the Fall 2007 semester.
