Books circulate to Emory University faculty for 365 days.
All regular circulating items can be renewed online through the "Your Account" feature in EUCLID provided the items are note overdue nor have been recalled by another library patron.
Reserve items, reference items, and bound periodicals do not normally circulate, but faculty may check-out for 24 hours. There is no limit on the number of books checked out.
Notices are emailed as a courtesy. Even if a notices was not received, borrowers are responsible for all checked out, overdue, damaged or lost.
After four overdue notices are issued, overdue items will be considered lost, unusable to other patrons and a billed as a lost item. Lost items are billed at a minimum rate of $50.00 plus a processing fee of $15.00 or a higher rate depending on the actual replacement cost of the item.
All checked out items are subject to recall. Emory borrowers may use the EUCLID online catalog to recall items circulating to other patrons. Recalled materials must be returned to the library within 14 days from the day the item was recalled or a $2.00 per day, per item fine is assessed. After 21 days overdue the recalled item is considered lost, un-useable to the recalling patron and will be billed as a lost item at the minimum rate of $65 or higher depending on the actual replacement cost of the item.
Fines: While Emory faculty are spared overdue and recall fines, they are not exempt from charges for damaged, lost or significantly overdue-recalled books. According to Emory University Library policy, patrons who do not pay those fines will have their library privileges suspended at all Emory University libraries.
Proxy: A student assistant or member of the support staff can be identified as a "proxy" to check out Pitts Library materials on behalf of a faculty member. The faculty member should submit a written request on departmental letterhead or send an email from their email account to the circulation staff at Pitts: (Natalie Williams or Myron McGhee). Identify the intended proxy's name and their seven digit, Emory University ID number. Proxies must be in good standing with Emory libraries. All proxy arrangements in Euclid expire on August 31 each year and should be renewed annually. Proxy designates should check out materials for the faculty member using only the faculty member's account. Also, advise any proxy designates that they are NOT to check out materials for their personal use on the faculty member's account.
