Reference Chat

Library users can send online instant messages to Pitts Theology Library reference staff to receive library assistance at their point of need. This service will be available from 9:00 AM - 8:30 PM Monday through Thursday and 9:00 AM - 4:30 on Fridays while Candler classes are in session, and Monday through Friday 9:00 AM - 4:30 all other times.

To chat with a librarian, you can use many popular services:

• On AIM, Yahoo!, or Google Talk, send an instant message to EmoryPittsRef
• On MSN, send an IM to emorypittsref@gmail.com
• Use emorypittsref@meebo.org on any Jabber client
• Use our Meebo web chat window (below)
• From your mobile phone, send a text message to 404.477.4881.

Please note that this phone number is for SMS text messages only; you can continue to contact the library by phone at 404.727.4166.

Chat Reference is designed for quick questions such as: "What would be the best database to use for researching monasticism?" OR "Please refresh my memory on how to ask for 1st Timothy in ATLA" OR "I'm not getting good results in my search, how can I reframe the search terms to get more hits?"

If a librarian doesn't respond quickly, another patron or task might be taking their attention. Please leave your question and email address to receive a speedy reply.

If a search is too complex, the Chat Librarian may refer or suggest an in-person or email consultation. We will be logging the chat interactions in order to improve service, but individual identities will be erased. And the Meebome widget is completely anonymous.
