Image Title: Jesus Before Caiaphas
Scripture Reference:
Description: A group of soldiers bring Jesus before the high priest Caiaphas. Jesus refuses to answer the priest’s questions at first. But when Caiaphas asks him if he is indeed the Christ, Jesus admits that he is. Jesus’ answer, which for the priest amounts to pure blasphemy, so frustrates Caiaphas that he tears his clothes. Illustration by Pierre Eskrich (ca. 1550-ca. 1590).
