Description: The son of Shelomith is stoned for blasphemy as an illustration of the violation of the second commandment: "Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain." The artist, Virgil Solis (1514-1562), has placed his monogram in the lower left corner of the woodcut. In addition there is the engraver’s knife and the numeral 7 in the lower right corner.
