Image Title: Printer's Device of Crato Mylius

Description: Printer’s device of Crato Mylius (1503-1547) or Krafft Müller (German form of his name), designed by Heinrich Vogtherr, the Elder. The lion symbolizes strength, as does Samson (shown on the shield with the jawbone of an ass), and the pillar, fortitude. Both are obvious allusions to his forename (German Kraft = strength; Greek kratos = power).
