Description: This print features the vision of the end of Satan’s captivity, when he is released and goes on to deceive Gog and Magog, the armies of which he uses to surround the camp of the saints and the beloved city; but fire comes down from heaven and consumes the armies. This and other woodcuts in this 1533 Bible are the work of the German artist, Erhard Altdorfer (d. 1561).
