Description: Paul is bitten by a viper on the shore of Malta, after a shipwreck depicted in the background. As the numeral at the head of the page indicates, this is plate #222 in a series of illustrations, and the name of the engraver, Peter Paul Bouche (b. ca. 1646), has been set at the base.
