Image Title: The Stoning of Stephen

Scripture Reference:

Description: Stephen is stoned to death for preaching Christ resurrected, thereby becoming the first Christian martyr. In the top left corner, Stephen sees the heavens open and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God, who holds a globus cruciger. The insignia of the senate and people of Rome (SPQR) is depicted in the center on a bulwark. Includes the monogram of the woodcutter, Christoffel van Sichem II (1577-1658); his son, Christoffel van Sichem III (1618-1659), may have collaborated with him on these images, near the top right corner.
