Description: Mary the mother of Jesus holds the limb body of her son as two angels flank her. One angel holds the spear, whip, and nails used on Jesus, while the other angel holds a reed with a sponge and the crown of thorns. In the background is the cross with a sign that reads “INRI.” Includes the monogram of the woodcutter, Christoffel van Sichem II (1577-1658) near the top left corner; his son, Christoffel van Sichem III (1618-1659), may have collaborated with him on these images.
