Description: This engraving illustrates the dedication or consecration of a church. The bishop and other priests walk in a procession carrying a stone which contains relics. This stone will eventually be set into the altar and the bishop will consecrate it so that the sacrifice of the Mass may be offered. The image is flanked by a border containing angels, or putti, standing over eagles and holding snakes.
