Description: This engraving illustrates one aspect of ordination to the priesthood: the laying on of hands. The bishop stands and lays his hands on the head of each person being ordained in turn. The ordainee kneels and carries a chasuble, a priestly vestment, over one arm. The image is flanked by a border containing angels, or putti, suspended over the heads of soldiers.
