Description: Jesus is crucified between two criminals, and the soldiers cast lots for Jesus’ clothing. Over his head is a sign that reads “CHLK INRI LNO.” A sponge filled with sour wine is offered to him on a reed. Includes the monogram of the woodcutter, Christoffel van Sichem II (1577-1658); his son, Christoffel van Sichem III (1618-1659), may have collaborated with him on these images, and an engraver’s knife near the bottom right corner.
