Image Title: Ten Commandments

Scripture Reference: Exodus 19

Description: Moses receives the Ten Commandments on Mt. Sinai. A book of wisdom rests on the mountain and a donkey is struck dead for crossing the fence protecting the mountain. The Latin superscription for the page reproduces the text in the book set on the mountain ("the beginning of wisdom is the fear of the Lord") and quotes Proverbs 1:7; and the banner running across the book is labeled "The book of wisdom." The text underneath the image reads, "What has true wisdom set as its beginning? The fear of the divine, having been fixed on the heart." Information about the artist responsible for the image is provided at the lower right: John Galle composed at Antwerp.
