Reformation Day at Emory, 2005
Each year Candler School of Theology celebrates Reformation Day with special
events that culminate in an evening concert. This year's events take place
October 19, 2005.
The 18th annual Reformation Day at Emory program will take as its theme, “The
Meaning of the Reformation,” and the celebration will include a rich array of lectures and
music, culminating in an evening concert that introduces the Jaeckel organ,
a 14-ton, custom-built instrument with 3,605 pipes, to Atlanta.
Also, please stop by the Pitts Theology Library to view the Augsburg Confession Exhibit. As part of its celebration of Reformation Day at Emory, Pitts Theology Library is exhibiting early editions of the Augsburg Confession and related documents. All items are from the Richard C. Kessler Reformation Collection and will be on display in the Durham Reading Room.
We are especially pleased to introduce three new lecturers to the friends of the Kessler Collection this year:
- Dr. Scott Hendrix, James Hastings Nichols Professor of Reformation History and Doctrine, Princeton Theological Seminary; author of Recultivating the Vineyard: The Reformation Agendas of Christianization (2004) and ELCA minister.
- Ms. Beth A. Lewis, President and CEO of Augsburg Fortress Press; Ms. Lewis brings rich experience in the publishing industry (Times Mirror, McGraw Hill) and in information technology.
- Dr. Ian McFarland, Associate Professor of Systematic Theology at Candler School of Theology.
