The Digital Image Archive comtains more than 16,000 images related to the Bible, church leaders, and other theological topics. The database contains many images suitable for use as illustrations of biblical texts as well as portraits of persons engaged in the religious and political debates of the sixteenth century.

This web site was developed in conjunction with an exhibit in the Pitts Theology Library (Fall 1999) to display and supplement the exhibit so as to acquaint visitors with the fuller contents of the exhibited texts and of the Emory collections.
This collection of the thoughts and writings of others provide us with insight into Merton's "interior climate"—"these collected'words' reflect his fears and his hopes, and more importantly they reflect his prayer, at this new and long awaited juncture in his life"—that of living full-time at his hermitage.
