Bible Image Library

Pictorial Library of Bible Lands is a ten CD set of more than 5000 images related to locations mentioned in scriptures of the Hebrew Bible and New Testament.  Use of the images is given copyright clearance for personal and educational presentations with a simple attribution to the photographer, Todd Bolen .  These beautiful photos include landscapes, structures, and archaeological artifacts from the Middle East, Egypt, Turkey, Greece, and Rome. 

With a complete index of the whole set on every CD, the image library is searchable by keyword, using the browser’s find function (control f).  Images are in .jpg format with 1600X1200 resolution, which needs to be reduced for use in PowerPoint.  However, each CD also includes PowerPoint presentations with correctly sized (1024X768) and informatively annotated images.  PPts also include brief bibliographies.

The Pictorial Library of Bible Lands can be found in the Durham Reading Room media cabinet drawer marked “CD-ROM” under the call number DS44.5 .B65 2004.�

Summer hours begin Wednesday, May 6

Summer hours at the library begin this Wednesday and will continue until September 2.  During the summer, the library is open Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m. – 5 p.m, and closed during weekends.  The library will also be closed on Memorial Day (May 26), Independence Day (July 4), and Labor Day (Sept. 1).  More information about library hours can be found here.
